I ran across this quote in John Daido Loori’s wonderful book The Zen of Creativity. It made me laugh, and then it got me thinking about how many people and things have made it possible for me to be here, now, reading this quote.
Try to keep this in mind as today’s point of focus. Whatever you’re doing, what would it mean to do it from scratch? How far back in time and space can you retrace the steps?

Boy, I don’t know how far back in time I would have to go to learn how to do just about anything I encounter all day long. From wire wrapping jewelry to making breakfast, I don’t have a clue. Thank God for those who came before us!
